Meet our team
Karen directs the firm’s creative search practices, which include editorial/content, video, creative direction, data visualization, thought leadership, branding, social media and communications, as well as digital strategy leaders. She and her team typically search for Chief Content Officers, Chief Creative Officers, Chief Digital Officers, Chief Marketing Officers and Heads of Video, among other titles. Karen also leads the firm’s Human Resource practice and plays an integral role in searches for CEOs and Heads of Product.
Since joining Koller Search Partners, Karen has expanded the client base to include nonprofit organizations, consulting and professional service firms and content marketing agencies. She works closely with Ed and Eddie on setting the firm’s operational guidelines and best practices.
Prior to search, Karen spent 12 years in editorial leadership, including Editor in Chief of Software Business at CMP Media (now UBM) and Editorial Director at the American Bar Association in Chicago. In addition to her first-hand knowledge of the creative business, Karen is respected by clients and candidates for providing hands-on client service, building relationships based on trust and insight, and ensuring that creative hires are strategically aligned with a company’s business goals.
Karen has a BA in journalism and political science from the University of Michigan. She is a member of the Online News Association and the Custom Content Council, and is often sought as an expert on market trends and hiring strategies.
Outside of work, Karen’s passion is ballroom dancing, competing nationally. She works out at the gym or in the park at 5:30 every morning and loves attending any live music or arts performance.
